World's First Cow Wedding

A Moo-tiful Love Story

Humans have accomplished some pretty remarkable things over our 300,000 years of existence. We’ve completely reshaped ourselves and the entire planet through technology, culture, and social organization. We’ve split atoms, walked on the moon, and built civilizations that span continents… nothing crazy right?

But none of that compares to what we’re about to tell you. The greatest achievement in human history? Marrying two cows. That’s right. No one had ever done it before, and we saw our chance to make history. So we held the world’s first-ever cow wedding and married two of our beloved mini Highland cows.

But we didn’t do it just for the novelty. We did it because when Muriel and Rhett met, it was genuinely love at first sight.

Rhett, the groom

The ceremony was absolutely spectacular. Give me fourteen of them, actually. Rhett looked incredibly handsome in his beautiful traditional Scottish kilt (obviously, he’s a Highland cow). We brushed him hundreds of times until his coat practically glowed. This was his perfect day, and he was going to look the part.

Fun fact: while we were dressing Rhett in his kilt, farm co-founder Greg had an unexpected moment. Another mini Highland cow named Anthony decided to mount him right then and there. Anthony was jealous no one asked him to be in the wedding party and thought Greg was a poor choice for the Best Man…. so he did what any jealous friend might, a sneak attack mount while Greg’s attention was on Rhett.

Look at Anthony’s eyes. That’s the look of a cow that knows what he wants.

Muriel, the bride

Muriel looked absolutely sensational. Her hair was straight out of a Pantene commercial, cascading and glossy. She had pink glitter painted on her hooves, wore a beautiful handmade white gown, and was crowned with a custom floral wreath. We even gave her a couple of breath mints because every bride deserves fresh breath on her big day.

When we watched her walk down the aisle, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Queen Victoria, the maid of honour

Every wedding needs a maid of honor, and Muriel’s was royalty. Literally. Queen Victoria, the reigning monarch of our farm (who also happens to be a miniature goat), served as maid of honor alongside her kids. We figured if anyone should open for the queen of the cows, it should be the queen of the entire farm.

Queen Victoria took her role seriously. She wore a beautiful handmade white skirt that complemented Muriel’s gown perfectly.

The ceremony

Once Muriel and Rhett stood together at the altar, marriage officiant and farm owner Cheryl Haskett delivered a stunning speech about their love, commitment, and dedication to each other. It was heartfelt. It was moving. And then came the most beautiful moment of all.

When Cheryl asked Rhett to confirm his commitment to Muriel, he actually responded with a moo. Right on cue. You couldn’t have scripted it better.

Muriel and Rhett said their “I moos,” the crowd erupted in cheers, and the gate swung open for the newlyweds to finally be together. That’s when the real magic happened. They kissed. They gazed deeply into each other’s souls. They danced in circles around each other, completely lost in the moment.

And then, well, they consummated the marriage. Sort of. There’s photographic evidence of this at the bottom of the page…  these two didn’t waste any time.

The reception

After the ceremony, guests made their way to the alpaca pasture for the reception. This wasn’t your typical wedding reception. We transformed our popular Alpaca Sunset Picnic experience into something truly special.

Guests enjoyed a custom dinner while our friendly alpacas roamed freely around them, photobombing conversations and stealing the show. The menu featured Ontario-made goodies, including custom Highland cow cupcakes that were almost too adorable to eat. Everyone also received champagne glasses to take home as keepsakes from the world’s first cow wedding.

It was the perfect blend of whimsy, local flavor, and unforgettable moments. Exactly what Muriel and Rhett deserved.

Virality, news, and awards

The event was a massive success. Actually, it went viral. We’re talking millions of views across more than 12 media outlets, both local and international. CTV, CHCH, CNN, GlobalNews, CItyNews, CBC, and more.

But it gets better. The wedding won two prestigious awards from Oxford Tourism: Special Event of the Year and the Tourism Partnership Award.

We didn’t pull this off alone. We partnered with popular online creators Zhanna Red and Explore 6ix, Destination Ontario, local media outlets, talented vendors, and regional tourism organizations to bring this story to life and share it with the world.

We were intentional about doing things right. The event featured eco-friendly decorations, locally socompostable dining. We kept attendance limited to protect the health of our animals and land. It proved that with playful creativity and thoughtful planning, you can create an unforgettable visitor experience that’s both entertaining and responsible.

The love story

In the end, this is simply a love story. Muriel and Rhett’s love story. From the moment we brought Rhett to the farm, it felt destined.

Cheryl noticed it right away. “When Muriel actually goes to a different pasture, because sometimes we move animals around, often times she would actually have to walk by Rhett. They would stop, have a little kiss and talk to each other along the way! We just thought this is going to be absolutely crazy or the most beautiful and wonderful thing ever!”

And you know what? It turned out to be both.

Now, we wait. In about nine months, Muriel and Rhett might just welcome a little one into the world. A new chapter. A new generation. The next part of their love story.

After 300,000 years of human achievement, maybe the greatest thing we’ve done is simply step back and let love run its course. Even if that love happens to have hooves.
